Abstract

Objective: Analyze the prevalence of hypertension as a consequence of obesity in metabolic syndrome (MS) in children. Methods: This is an integrative review in which 20 studies were used, researched on the PUBMED, BVS, and CAPES database platforms, using the descriptors “Metabolic Syndrome AND Child Obesity AND Hypertension” Through this, it was possible to synthesize and relate the studies through their results and different research approaches. Results: The results showed that hypertension can be considered a consequence of Metabolic Syndrome (MS), as it is prevalent in a significant number of MS cases. Final considerations: It is considered, when analyzing the results, that there is a strong correlation between obesity/overweight and arterial hypertension in children, therefore, it is possible to expose the intrinsic relationship between the development of these factors, increasingly present in society and which participate in the inclusion criteria of Metabolic Syndrome, as the main triggers of the disease.
