Abstract

Objective: To analyze the heart disease risk factors and eating in adults registered in a Family Health Strategy. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study, conducted with 267 adults residents of Belém do Pará. A socioeconomic and food frequency questionnaire was applied, consisting of 67 items divided into food groups, considering daily consumption for 10% of the sample. The Framingham cardiovascular risk was calculated based on clinical and biochemical data, classifying individuals into high and low risk groups. For the analyses, was used the IBM SPSS Statistics software, considering p<0.05. Results: The group presented a 22.5% high risk of developing heart disease, with higher systolic and diastolic blood pressure, higher LDL-c and lower HDL-c levels, a higher proportion of people with diabetes and no direct association with daily food intake and overweight. Conclusion: Excessive consumption of high-calorie foods may be causing high rates of overweight, which may be interfering with the increase in hypertension, dyslipidemia and diabetes, indicating the need to implement strategies to reduce the overweight and greater consumption of cardioprotective foods.
