Abstract
Objective: To report the case of a hospitalized patient diagnosed with Lyme-like disease. Case detail: This is an case report study of a patient diagnosed with Lyme-like disease, admitted to the Hospital, with an official diagnosis made through a reagent IgM serology for Lyme-like disease, with confirmation made through PCR that identified traces of Borreliella. Information for this case report was obtained through analysis of the target population's medical records, with approval by the local ethics committee. Case report: Few cases are described in Brazil and this article reports on a female teenager with skin, ophthalmological, neurological, joint, cardiac and respiratory involvement. Treatment was made with empirical antibiotic therapy and the patient subsequently received the official diagnosis through a reagent IgM serology for Lyme-like disease, and confirmation through PCR, which identified traces of Borreliella. Final considerations: The disease is still little known and, therefore, the diagnosis is often not considered or is delayed. The dissemination of case reports is important so that information is increasingly disseminated, resulting in earlier diagnoses and more effective treatments.
