Abstract
Objective: Select the scientific evidence produced on the early identification of heart failure induced by chemotherapy treatment and describe the relevant actions for implementing nursing care based on the selected evidence. Methods: This is an integrative review study, with articles published between 2012 and 2022 in Portuguese, English and Spanish. The bibliographic research was carried out in March 2023, on the data search platforms PubMed, Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), with the Descriptors in Health Sciences (DeCS): Heart Failure, Cardiotoxicity, Chemotherapy, combining terms with the boolean operators “AND”, “NOT”, “OR”. The guiding question was applied: What are the good practices evidenced in the literature for the early identification of heart failure induced by chemotherapy drugs, for nurses to perform? Results: 43 articles met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, in which the nurse plays an important role before, during and after chemotherapy treatment. Final considerations: It is considered that early identification by nurses is essential to the care of patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment, consolidating its importance in multidisciplinary work for the adequate, safe and preventive management of these patients.
