Abstract
Objective: To analyze the prevalence of autoimmune rheumatic diseases in patients treated by primary health care of the Unified Health Service in a municipality west of Santa Catarina, their general characteristics, the therapy used, and the main comorbidities. Methods: This observational, cross-sectional study, based on electronic medical records, involved 223 patients undergoing treatment at a municipal rheumatic disease outpatient clinic in 2020. Results: The prevalent age group found was 51 to 60, with 86% women, p<0.01. Rheumatoid Arthritis was the most prevalent disease, followed by Lupus, Systemic Sclerosis, and Ankylosing Spondylitis p<0.0001. The most commonly used medications were methotrexate and prednisone, p<0.05. A more significant correlation was observed between Rheumatoid Arthritis and Arterial Hypertension, followed by Hypothyroidism, Depression, and Dyslipidemia, p<0.01. Methotrexate had the most critical unwanted effects (58.4%). Conclusion: The diseases Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, Systemic Sclerosis, and Ankylosing Spondylitis were prevalent in this study. There is a demand for professional qualifications, management of adverse drug effects, and improvement of the health system in caring for patients.
