Abstract

Objective: To report the experience of training with primary care professionals about sickle cell disease, raising reflections on humanized and qualified assistance for those living with this chronic condition. Experience report: The training took place in the first half of 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic period, in which the actions were carried out online in five family health strategies, conducted by culture-reflection-action circles, a pre- and post-training was used to assess professionals' knowledge on the topic. Final considerations: In view of this university extension experience, it is highlighted that the triad of teaching, service and community, allows the student to integrate theory and practice, envisioning teamwork, and the articulation in learning and producing knowledge. This study points out paths on the importance of continuous training in the Health care network for people with sickle cell disease, reinforcing the role of health professionals in monitoring this population since diagnosis, and the relevance of multidisciplinary work to achieve comprehensive care for these users.
