Abstract
Objective: Description of data on deaths due to mental and behavioral disorders in Mato Grosso between 2010 and 2020. Methods: This is an ecological study that used DATASUS data on deaths due to mental and behavioral disorders between 2010 and 2020 in Mato Grosso, using the variables of sex, age group, and ethnicity. The information was organized and analyzed using tables constructed with office package tools. Results: During the analyzed period, a total of 2,127 deaths occurred, with the highest number of cases recorded in the year 2020, totaling 227 deaths. It was observed that factors such as sex, ethnicity, and age group have a higher frequency in mortality from psychiatric disorders, as males, Black individuals, and the elderly are the most affected. Additionally, it was noted that there is limited information available regarding ethnicity, as some groups were not included. Conclusion: Deaths due to mental and behavioral disorders in the state of Mato Grosso have a high prevalence and are influenced by significant variables, highlighting the importance of collecting quantitative data on this group, as there were few studies on the topic, especially concerning the association between psychiatric disorders and ethnic groups.
