Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the success of spontaneous pregnancy in patients undergoing myomectomy with reproductive desire in a Gynecology and Obstetrics service of the public health system of the Federal District. Methods: Analytical, descriptive, retrospective, and cross-sectional study evaluating the success of spontaneous pregnancy after myomectomy from March 2017 to December 2022. Results: A total of 46 patients who underwent myomectomy were evaluated, of which 4 were successful in spontaneous pregnancy after the surgical procedure. Of these patients, 30 wanted to become pregnant. Pregnancy success was 8.7%. The need for surgical conversion from myomectomy to hysterectomy was zero. With regard to the success of spontaneous pregnancy in patients who underwent myomectomy with reproductive desire, it was possible to observe that three patients were successful after undergoing abdominal myomectomy, while one underwent vaginal myomectomy. On the other hand, 22 patients who underwent abdominal myomectomy had reproductive desire but were unsuccessful in pregnancy, while 16 patients underwent vaginal myomectomy and had no reproductive desire. Conclusion: According to this research, myomectomy was successful in the service. There were spontaneous pregnancies after the procedure, showing that younger patients without comorbidities are more likely to become pregnant.
