Abstract

Objective: To compare the behavior of PPF, functionality and outline the profile of victims of acute trauma. Methods: Participants included underwent two assessments, one lasting 24 hours and the other lasting seven. Strength was measured using the Saehan hydraulic dynamometer and functionality using the ICU Mobility Scale. The clinical profile was recorded in the MV PEP Soul® electronic medical record. Results: The average age totaled 43.3 + 15.3 years. Males predominated in admissions with 72.7%. The 24-hour FFP resulted in an average of 36.8 + 12.8 kg/f and in seven days 37.4 + 13.1 kg/f (p= 0.333). The functionality resulted in: A (previous IMS) median 10, B (24 hours) median 8 and C (seven days) median 9. The comparison between moments A x B (p=0.001), A x C (p= 0.001) and B x C (p=0.011), had a significant difference. Conclusion: The most recurrent trauma was a fall from a height and the most common diagnosis was limb injuries. The trauma and seven days of hospitalization did not affect HGS, unlike functionality which was reduced upon admission, however patients partially recovered functionality after seven days of hospitalization, however they did not return to the values before hospitalization.
