Abstract
Objective: To identify the characteristics of published studies on the role of nurses in emergency regulation services. Methods: Scoping review, conducted between July and August 2023 in the databases: Pubmed, Scielo, BVS and Capes Journals, and research in the gray literature including the CAPES Theses and Dissertations Portal and Google Scholar, using combinations of descriptors related to Nursing, Professional Competence and Medical Emergency Dispatch. Results: The search process retrieved 161 articles from the four databases and 04 studies in the gray literature, after applying the inclusion criteria and screening process of titles and abstracts, and then following the full text, the review included a total of 06 articles and 03 studies. It was identified that in international systems, nurses act by evaluating emergencies and deciding on the dispatch of ambulances. Nationally, the role of nurses in emergency regulation focuses on organization, management and qualification of the regulatory process. Final considerations: The differences between international and national contexts emphasize the need to review and adjust responsibilities. The study highlights the importance of recognizing and integrating the contributions of nurses in the regulation of emergencies.
