Abstract
Objective: To verify the advantages and disadvantages encountered by nursing professionals when implementing electronic medical records in primary health care (PHC) units. Method: Descriptive, exploratory study with a quantitative approach, using a questionnaire, carried out in 03 PHC units in a municipality in the interior of the state of Goiás. All nurses and nursing technicians who work in PHC units and who use the patient's electronic medical record for recording actions. The collected data were transcribed and coded in an Excel version 2013 spreadsheet, transferred to the IMB SSPSS Statistics Statistical Software and analyzed using simple descriptive frequency. Results: 59.1% of professionals received training in handling electronic medical records and 86.4% felt confident using the system. The main advantage of electronic medical records for nurses is the possibility of remote access to patient data (66.7%). Among Nursing Technicians, it is easier to read (80%). Both considered system failures to be the main difficulty. Conclusion: The majority of nursing professionals were trained and feel safe when handling the electronic medical record. All professionals recognize advantages and disadvantages in using electronic medical records to record their actions.
