Abstract

Objective: To report the experience during an intervention in the waiting room of a Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS). Experience report: The intervention took place during practical classes of the curricular component Mental Health Nursing I, of the UEPA Nursing Undergraduate Course, and was carried out by students studying the discipline, supervised by the component's teacher. For the activity, images of certain moments in the historical context of mental health care were printed and, upon arrival in the waiting room, the students explained who they were and their purposes. Parallel to this, two students distributed the printed images to the public and, based on this, some questions were asked with a view to encouraging the participation of those present. Final considerations: Throughout the intervention, the considerable impact of the activity participants' way of thinking was observed, allowing a new look at their own care and the reality of the service offered, in addition to demonstrating the usefulness of the waiting room as an instrument active and effective for educational and interactive activities for people with mental disorders.
