Abstract
Objective: To assess the prevalence of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) in young adults and its relationship with pain, daily living activities (DLAs), and physical activity. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 32 young adults, predominantly single (93.75%) and physical education students. The Phalen test was used to assess CTS, and questionnaires were utilized to analyze pain in DLAs and its relation to physical activities. Sampling was calculated using Microsoft Excel®. Results: Of the participants, 84.37% showed a positive result in the Phalen test for CTS. It was observed that pain mainly affected individuals aged 18 to 24 years (81.25%), with no significant differences in pain intensity between genders. A moderate correlation (0.68) was identified between the frequency of physical activities and CTS when considering both hands. Conclusion: The high prevalence of CTS among young adults, especially physical education students, highlights the need for preventive and therapeutic strategies. Study limitations include the small sample size and the demand for longitudinal research to confirm these associations.
