Abstract

Objective: To correlate studies that address treatment methods in situations of ectopic pregnancy and discuss new perspectives for its treatment. Methods: An integrative literature review was carried out by surveying articles published in Portuguese and English in the Virtual Health Library and PubMed databases, using the Health Descriptors 'ectopic pregnancy', 'treatment' and 'signs and symptoms'. Results: A total of 30,424 documents were found that went through a screening process, resulting in the exclusion of 30,314 documents due to factors such as year of publication, language, type of study, studies not available for free and duplicate studies. Subsequently, 108 articles were excluded after reviewing the title and abstract, leaving only 16 articles to be read in full and finally, 13 articles were considered relevant and selected for data collection, analysis and discussion. Final considerations: It can be considered that surgical management is the most common method of treatment, and conservative management and medication administration can also be chosen, methotrexate presents itself as a consolidated option, new studies are looking for associations such as gefitinib and letrozole aiming for greater therapeutic success, but they require further research to prove their effectiveness in routine use.
