Abstract
Objective: To analyze the motivation of students, from the first to the fifth terms of the Medical Course regarding the problem-based learning (PBL) tutorial groups. Methods: The Instructional Materials Motivation Survey questionnaire, version validated in Brazil (IMMS-BRV) was used. 152 students participated in this study, the majority (72.4%) being female. The participants were enrolled in the first, second, third, fourth and fifth terms of the Medical Course. The questionnaire was applied in November 2021, using the Google Forms application. Results: In global motivation, it was observed that the students of the 2nd term presented significantly lower results when compared with the students of the other terms. In addition, students in the 3rd term showed significantly better results when compared to students in other terms. No significant differences were observed between the 1st, 4th, and 5th terms. Conclusion: The results show the need to review the curriculum, the problems, and the SGL facilitation process in the second term of the course, indicating the feasibility of using IMMS-BRV in this context.
