Abstract
Objective: To analyze the spatial distribution of the association between hepatitis C and End-Stage Renal Disease and its epidemiological, demographic, socioeconomic and public policy factors in the administrative districts of Belém, Pará, from 2021 to 2023. Methods: This cross-sectional, ecological study used data from the municipality's Municipal Health Department and the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, using descriptive and spatial statistical analyses. Results: A total of 98 cases were analyzed, with a higher proportion of cases in men (51.02%), brown people (52.04%), adults (39.80%), people treated in private establishments (51.02%) and residents of the Icoaraci and Guamá districts with the same percentage (21.43%). An inhomogeneous spatial distribution of the association in question and its conditioning factors, such as Systemic Arterial Hypertension and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, was observed in areas with high demographic densities, poor living conditions and precarious access to and supply of facilities for treating the diseases and their risk factors. The territorial analysis of the variables showed a hierarchy of access to health services for populations living mainly on the outskirts of the city, to the detriment of those living in the city center. Conclusion: Given the above, we identified the need to expand epidemiological surveillance of the pathologies studied, with a view to mitigating their occurrence in the municipality.
