Abstract

Objective: To analyze the relevance of using mobile applications and their contributions to monitoring child development. Bibliographic review: In Brazil, although formally the monitoring of child development in primary health care began in the 1980s with the Comprehensive Child Health Care Program (PAISC), the express recommendation to record, interpret and use developmental milestones in the Child Card, currently known as the Child Health Handbook (CSC), was only implemented in 2005, according to a publication by the Ministry of Health in 2004. From this perspective, the Family Health Strategy (ESF), with its programmatic principles and logistical actions, would be expected to play a fundamental role in monitoring children's developmental milestones. Final considerations: It is clear that child development remains within a scenario in which care continues to be deficient, signaling a failure in primary care, a fact that is evident worldwide when we consider underdeveloped countries. The use of health apps is a facilitating tool that reduces the obstacles within the system, helping clinical care through to the process of health intervention and prevention.
