Abstract

Objective: To analyze the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of primary health care providers. Methods: Integrative literature review carried out in SciELO, BVS, Medline, LILACS and CAPES Periódicos databases. Results: It has been selected 17 papers, from 11 different countries, being 2 Brazilian works. It has been confirmed the high occurrence of adverse outcomes in mental health in Primary Care Providers (PCP), being anxiety, depression, stress and burn-out syndrome the most analyzed emotional disorders. These professionals were subjected to multitasking, lack of PPEs and professional devaluation. Being female, low professionalexperience and a history of mental disorders were risk factors for mental illness. Professional resilience, self-perception at work, experience in epidemic-like situations and trust in the division of labor were the protective factors. Evidence shows that PCPs have a higher risk of mental illness compared to tertiary health care providers. Final considerations: There is still a lack of research on the work scenario of PCP professionals, especially during the fight against the pandemic, which resulted in the deterioration of the mental health of these workers.
