Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the Food and Nutritional Insecurity situation of families living in the rural area of a municipality in the interior of Pernambuco. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study, conducted with families living in a rural community in the interior of Pernambuco, with their food and nutritional (in)security situation assessed using the Brazilian Food Insecurity Scale. Statistical analyzes were conducted using SPSS version 25 software. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee. Results: The sample was made up of 24 families, with the family nucleus being mostly made up of women heading the household. It was possible to observe that more than 95% of the families interviewed presented some degree of food insecurity, with the worst levels being more common in those households with the worst socioeconomic conditions. Conclusion: The urgent need for specific strategies focused on food and nutrition is concluded with a view to promoting food and nutritional security in this community.
