Abstract

Objective: To develop computerized games to train postural balance in the elderly, addressing laterolateral movement, anteroposterior movement, and a combination of both, using an inclined force platform for interaction. Methods: This study developed three games that were controlled by a biaxial force platform to train balance in the elderly. Each game focuses on specific movements being laterolateral, anteroposterior and a combination of both. The platform allows interaction with the game through the pressure displacement exerted by the player. The development of the games took place using a game development software. The tests involved 10 evaluators divided into physiotherapists and developers. The results were analyzed using the SUS scale (System Usability Scale). Results: The answers obtained in the SUS questionnaire showed a score of 81 in the physiotherapists' evaluation and 81 in the system developers' evaluation. Both values classify the system as excellent. Games can be a very useful tool with great potential for use in balance training and rehabilitation. Conclusion: The system developed can bring about a significant improvement in treatments, as well as helping the therapist by increasing the possibilities of techniques applied, achieving greater patient permanence during treatment.
