Abstract

Objective: To analyze the applicability of CT angiography as a diagnostic method in strokes. Literature review: Stroke is a pathology commonly present in hospital centers worldwide, with a high prevalence in advanced ages and patients with chronic diseases. It is classified into ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, where in ischemic stroke there is arterial occlusion and impaired blood perfusion, generating hypoxia in the brain tissue. Hemorrhagic disease is characterized by blood leakage through arterial rupture, causing cerebral edema. Early diagnosis is essential to reduce damage and improve prognosis, with tomography and resonance traditionally being adopted as diagnostic tests. Tomography angiography is an exam that allows the visualization of cerebral vascularization and a detailed analysis of changes in blood flow. Final considerations: Stroke is one of the main causes of death and disability in the world, requiring the use of highly specific diagnostic methods when analyzing the injury. Where CT angiography, with its applicability in the diagnosis of strokes, can avoid unfavorable outcomes and guarantee better prognoses.
