Abstract
Objective: To understand the profile of patients undergoing radiosurgery for the resection of intracranial tumors in a cancer treatment reference hospital in the western region of Paraná over the past 10 years. Methods: This is an observational, cross-sectional study that analyzed 33 electronic medical records of patients with intracranial tumors undergoing radiosurgery between 2013 and 2023 at the hospital in question. Results: Predominantly, female patients (57.6%) with a mean age of 55 years were identified. Metastatic lesions were more prevalent (66.6%), with breast and lung being the most commonly found primary tumor sites. Regarding the number of intracranial lesions presented, the majority of patients had only one intracranial lesion (78.8%). Among the studied patients, in 72.7% of cases, radiosurgery was used for lesion resection, being used minimally in the surgical setting. Finally, a preference for fractionated radiosurgery (69.8%) was noted, with an average of 5 doses of 5Gy each. Conclusion: The profile found was that of middle-aged women with only one metastatic intracranial lesion, treated with fractionated radiosurgery, which is in accordance with what is found in the literature. It is proposed to conduct further fragmented studies to better understand the data presented.
