Abstract
Objective: To characterize the sociodemographic profile, training and performance of psychiatrists and medical residents in psychiatry who use telepsychiatry in Brazil. Methods: Quantitative, descriptive and cross- sectional research carried out through social networks and dissemination on the website of the Brazilian Psychiatric Association with a link to the questionnaire on Google Forms. Data collection was from June 2022 to March 2023. The study variables were presented through simple and relative frequency distribution. Results: 101 responses were obtained. Prevailing age was 36 years or more (62.4%), female (60.4%), living (82%) and working in capitals (59.4%), training time between 10 and 20 years (40%), medical residency (57%), non-teaching staff (71%), not having access to databases (66%), participating in conferences (91%) and not having training in telemedicine (87.1%). Conclusion: The low percentage of psychiatrists working in the interior of the states and, mainly, the lack of formal training in telemedicine can raise questions about access to healthcare and the technology itself.
