Abstract

Objective: To establish the main risk factors associated with the development of stroke during acute cases of COVID-19. Methods: This is a integrative bibliographical research, descriptive and explanatory in nature. Conducting the study with the guiding question: Which factors are associated with the development of stroke in patients with acute COVID-19? The literature search was carried out in the LILACS, MEDLINE and IBECS databases, using the descriptors stroke, stroke, Coronavirus, COVID-19, Prognosis, Risk. Results: 15 relevant articles were included, which showed an average incidence of 1.69%, most cases were male (>53%), aged over 60 years, black (47%), comorbidities most commonly found were hypertension, hyperlipidemia and DM, as well as an increase in D-dimer and CRP values. Final considerations: The average incidence of stroke during COVID-19 was approximately 1.69%, presenting significant morbidity and mortality. It was observed that advanced age (>60 years), male sex, black race and presence of comorbidities (mainly hypertension and DM) appear to be significant predictors for the development of stroke in cases of COVID-19.
