Abstract

Objective: To carry out an integrative review on the effectiveness of ultrasound-guided intra-articular infiltrations in the treatment of pain in patients with knee osteoarthritis. Methods: This is an integrative review study. The sample was composed of scientific works that answered the research question and data collection was carried out in February 2024. Results: It was found that oral treatment for KOA is not sufficient to control the disease and, for this reason, the Prescription of intra-articular infiltration has been satisfactory, especially when guided by ultrasound. Infiltrations improve rigidity, functional capacity and mobility. Furthermore, they provide greater comfort, well-being and quality of life for the individual with KOA.  Conclusion: ultrasound-guided intra-articular infiltrations are more efficient than other pharmacological modalities, as they significantly reduce pain complaints over a longer period, improve stiffness, functional capacity, mobility and ensure greater comfort and well-being for patients with KOA. and quality of life. Furthermore, ultrasound-guided intra-articular infiltrations are performed in a safer and more effective way.
