Abstract

Objective: To analyze the training and practices related to spirituality among healthcare professionals. Literature review: Spirituality can be defined as a personal quest for answers about life, encompassing beliefs, practices, and experiences that impact an individual's overall well-being, beyond traditional religious boundaries. Despite evidence of the influence of spirituality on health, the challenge of applying it due to the lack of theoretical and practical knowledge among professionals remains a significant issue. In this context, educational institutions have initiated and increasingly implemented courses, modules, projects, and study groups related to the theory and practice of spirituality and health in their curricula. Among these practices, mindfulness, yoga, psychoeducation, and faith-based programs are prominent. Final considerations: Despite evidence supporting their efficacy, practices related to spirituality and health are still underutilized. Therefore, more studies, as well as the implementation and development of teaching formats and strategies on the subject, are necessary to promote meaning and purpose in their application.
