Abstract
Objective: To carry out a survey of the most common interventions and results achieved by dental surgeons in the treatment of children and adolescents diagnosed with sleep bruxism. Methods: This is a bibliographic review with a methodological design based on the PRISMA Method, carried out in the SciELO, PubMed/MEDLINE, Cochrane, Web of Science and Brazilian Bibliography of Dentistry databases, with an extraction period established between 2012 and 2022. Results: 121 manuscripts were stratified and, after going through the stages of identification, screening, eligibility and inclusion, resulted in 13 studies that presented pharmacological, orthodontic, homeopathic, psychological and physiotherapeutic interventions. All the research analyzed highlighted the importance of establishing a specific diagnosis based on etiological analysis to define an appropriate approach for children and adolescents with sleep bruxism. Conclusion: It is considered that there are several multidisciplinary and individualized approaches that are effective in the treatment of sleep bruxism in children and adolescents. These interventions can be administered by the dentist through the use of drugs, orthodontic appliances and homeopathic treatments, as well as psychological and physiotherapeutic therapies.
