Abstract
Objective: To describe the nursing care provided to patients suffering from a stroke during emergency care. Methods: This is a descriptive, qualitative, integrative review study, carried out through searches in the following databases: Nursing Databases, Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online and Scopus. 468 studies were identified and after the screening and eligibility process, 14 articles remained to be included in this review. Results: The way in which stroke patients are managed in the context of urgency and emergency care was observed, using protocols provided for in the institutions. Furthermore, it was possible to perceive the difficulties faced by professionals with a nursing degree in providing care. Conclusion: It is considered that nursing care for patients who are victims of or suspected of having a stroke impacts the patient's prognosis, since nurses have several duties that have the potential to contribute to the patient's survival at different levels of action.
