Abstract

Objective: Search for articles that report the social implications experienced by patients diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Methods: Bibliometric, descriptive study with a quantitative approach, using the web of Science and PUBMED platforms. The PICO strategy allowed us to construct the guiding question: ‘Does the diagnosis and monitoring of individuals with ADHD influence the social interactions of these individuals’. We then selected the terms indexed on the MeSH platform: ‘Attention Deficit Disorder with Hyperactivity’; ‘Family Relations’; ‘Social Adjustment’, which generated the metadata evaluated by the R program v.4.3.3 and bibliometrix package v3.0.3. Results: 382 documents were obtained from both platforms, 252 from Web of Science and 130 from PubMed. Of these, 48 articles were excluded due to duplicity, resulting in 334 documents analyzed. Final considerations: The authors compiled in this review agree with the early diagnosis of ADHD to control symptoms and prevent the development of anxiety and depression disorders, in addition to the use of drugs and alcohol, common among young people and adults. Just as psychotherapeutic approaches with individual management are favorable, the patient's clinical and social manifestations are favorable. Although methylphenidate and lisdexamfetamine are widely adopted in the pharmacological management of ADHD, they have not been incorporated into the SUS.
