Abstract

Objective: Understand the factors that affect the care and management of complex wounds by the nursing team. Methods: This is an integrative literature review. Data collection was carried out in the virtual databases of Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Nursing Database (BDENF) and National Library of Medicine (PUBMED). The inclusion criteria covered complete articles in Portuguese, English and Spanish. Studies unrelated to the topic, theses, dissertations and literature reviews were excluded. The results were summarized descriptively and presented in tables. Results: After searching the databases, 7 articles were identified and listed for the construction of the study. It was observed that complicating factors can impact the care and management of wounds by the nursing team. The categories “Absence of protocols” and “Inadequate knowledge about the topic” had the highest occurrence in the articles analyzed, appearing in 100% and 75% of the studies. Las categorías “Ausencia de protocolos” y “Conocimiento inadecuado sobre el tema” tuvieron mayor ocurrencia en los artículos analizados, apareciendo en el 100% y el 75% de los estudios. Final considerations: There was a lack of knowledge among professionals, as well as a lack of communication between the team, lack of protocols, lack of training, scarcity of materials and coverings, and insecurity in carrying out procedures.
