Abstract

Objective: To carry out a review on aspects of the bacterium Helicobacter spp., its zoonotic aspects and its diagnostic methods for identifying this genus. Literature review: Helicobacter spp is a genus of gram-negative bacteria that colonizes the stomach of 60.3% of the world's population, and the main forms of transmission of this bacterium are oral-oral and oral-fecal forms. The main etiological agent of gastritis and gastric ulcers in animals and humans, it is also reported as a cause of gastric carcinoma in humans. For the diagnosis of gastric helicobacteriosis, the serological method and urea breath test are used, in addition to collecting necropsy samples. The samples collected using the endoscopy technique allow the following methods to be carried out: Rapid Urease test, cytology stained with phenicated fuchsin and/or Giemsa, silver (Warthin-Starry), culture, histology and immunohistochemistry. Final considerations: Helicobacter spp. and one colonizes the stomach of a large part of the world's population, and has great zoonotic potential, with high severity of the pathologies that its presence in this organ can cause. For diagnosis, it is carried out through culture, urease test, histopathology, histochemistry (Warthin-Starry.), immunohistochemistry and molecular test.
