Abstract

Objective: Analyze the evolution of the lipid profile and associated risk factors in patients with dyslipidemia and the use of Antiretroviral Therapy for better management of patients. Methods: Descriptive-longitudinal study in people living with HIV and regularly using ART with a diagnosis of dyslipidemia, assessing lifestyle habits and risks for metabolic syndrome. Results: Fifty-eight patients were evaluated, with the distribution between male and female gender being equivalent, mean age 58.1 years and mean time of infection with the virus 15.68 years, with a maximum of 32 years. The average time using ART was 14.94 years, with the use of Protease Inhibitors being prevalent. It was observed that there was an increase in HDL-cholesterol and a decrease in LDL-cholesterol, total cholesterol and triglycerides. When analyzing the comorbidities related to the condition, 77.5% had metabolic syndrome according to the IDF criteria,43% of patients were diagnosed with high blood pressure and 73.6% had diabetes. All patients were using lipid-lowering drugs. Conclusion: Improvement in the lipid profile was observed, however, exposure to multiple behavioral and health factors impact endocrine-metabolic control.
