Abstract

Objective: to describe the prevalence and factors associated with Fournier syndrome in children. Methods: This is an integrative literature review carried out in six stages: elaboration of the research question; literature search and sampling; definition of information to be extracted from selected studies; categorization of studies; sample analysis; Results presentation. Data collection was carried out in the Publisher Medline (PubMed), Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo) and Google Scholar databases. Results: The results showed that the prevalence of Fournier syndrome in children is not clearly described in the literature and the associated factors were female gender, anorectal causes, late hospitalization, presence of debilitating conditions such as renal failure and liver dysfunction, in addition to laboratory parameters such as hyperglycemia, hypocalcemia, anemia, leukocytosis and thrombocytopenia, low levels of hematocrit, calcium, albumin and cholesterol, and high levels of BUN and alkaline phosphatase. Final Considerations: Fournier syndrome in children is an important serious condition and it is suggested that more studies be developed to evaluate the situation such as pathophysiology, underlying mechanisms, prevalence and associated factors.
