Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the use of cannabidiol in the symptomatic treatment of Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS) and its adverse effects. Literature review: The use of cannabidiol is efficient in the treatment of LGS, whether at a dose of 10mg/kg/d or 20mg/kg/d, in reducing the frequency of seizures and improving the quality of life of patients and families. A reduction in the frequency of seizures is observed in patients with LGS after the use of cannabidiol, especially when combined with other anticonvulsants, especially at a dosage of 20 mg/kg/day. However, it is also necessary to understand that increasing the dose leads to some adverse effects, such as diarrhea, nausea, drowsiness and an increase in liver transaminases. Final considerations: There is little evidence linking the use of cannabidiol with other anticonvulsants in GLS. From this perspective, the objective of the study was to evaluate the use of cannabidiol in the symptomatic treatment of Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, so that this therapy is discussed in the sociocultural and scientific context in an imperative manner.
