Abstract

Objective: To gather laboratory data on triglycerides (TG) and low-density lipoproteins (LDL) and compare them to the risk of developing cardiac vascular accidents (CVA). Methods: Observational, cross-sectional study, with a quantitative analytical approach, based on the analysis of LDL and TG levels of patients at LAC - PUC Goiás from October 2023 to November 2023. Data were tabulated using Microsoft Office Excel 365 and analyzed with the Statistical Package for Social Science. Results: 1025 patients were analyzed, regarding sex and the classification of isolated hypercholesterolemia, mixed hyperlipidemia and isolated hypertriglyceridemia of the sample, the p value was 0.725, indicating the absence of a significant relationship. In relation to age groups, a value of p<0.001 was obtained, showing a significant relationship. Post hoc analysis revealed a higher prevalence of isolated hypertriglyceridemia in the age group of 50 to 59 years (23.8%). Conclusion: Greater attention is needed to patients who are entering the age range of 50 to 59 years, with the aim of screening, diagnosing and offering treatment that acts to prevent possible strokes.
