Abstract

Objective: To map, in the literature, the application of health care developed by the primary care team for patients undergoing leprosy treatment in order to promote quality of life. Methods: This is an integrative review developed by the databases: The Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Virtual Health Library (VHL), Scopus, Web of Science. The following descriptors were used: Leprosy, Primary Health Care, Therapeutics, Quality of life. Original articles in English and Portuguese with open access and published during the years 2020 to 2024 were included. Literature review works, abstracts, theses and monographs were excluded. Results: Socioeconomic factors and education were attributed to increased vulnerability and abandonment to the disease. Patients' quality of life is affected by pain, prejudice, physical disability, and sedentary lifestyle. Thus, it appears that health education offered by the multidisciplinary team is a valuable tool in promoting self-care for these patients. However, access to services is fraught with difficulty, which is an aggravating factor for early diagnosis and greater consequences of leprosy. Final considerations: The care process of the multidisciplinary team is linked to improving the health of clients.
