Health of rural elderly people in primary health care in Brazil

Abstract

Objective: Identify scientific evidence about the health of rural elderly people in primary health care in Brazil. Methods: This is an integrative review of the literature, with articles published between 2014 and 2024, in Portuguese, English and Spanish and with full text available. The guiding question was used: What is the scientific evidence about the health of rural elderly people in primary health care in Brazil? To carry out the research, the databases and electronic library were used: LILACS, BDENF, MEDLINE, SCOPUS and the SCIELO library, through the descriptors in Health Sciences (DeCS): Elderly, Aged, Health, Primary health care, Primary Health Care, rural population and Rural areas, performing the crossing using the Boolean operator “AND” and “AND NOT”. Collection was carried out using a proprietary instrument using Microsoft Excel version 2019. Results: 14 articles were selected that met the inclusion criteria, which addressed the health of elderly people in rural environments. The themes that stood out the most were: functional capacity and quality of life. Final considerations: There were few studies developed with this audience, which demonstrates the importance of new research, especially in the area of ​​nursing.
