Abstract
Objective: To analyze the performance of Community Health Agents (CHA) in monitoring people with Systemic Arterial Hypertension and Diabetes Mellitus in a city in Recôncavo region of Bahia during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This is a cross-sectional, qualitative study, carried out through interviews with 10 CHAs who have worked in the Family Health Strategy (ESF) since the beginning of the pandemic. The interviews were guided by a semi-structured questionnaire. Collection was carried out from April to May 2024. The data obtained was sorted into categories. Then, the material was explored with identification and problematization of ideas. Results: The data was compiled and classified into thematic categories: monitoring of CHWs during the pandemic, difficulties during the pandemic, facilities during the pandemic. In this way, the interview reports were analyzed with greater precision. However, it is worth highlighting the inseparability of the themes, with the separation occurring in this article solely for didactic purposes. Conclusion: The relevance of the ACS for health promotion and disease prevention in the ESF was highlighted, in addition to the challenges experienced during the pandemic period.
