Abstract
Objective: To explore the effectiveness of acupuncture as a complementary therapy in relieving signs and symptoms as described in scientific medical literature. Methods: This is an integrative review, in which the search for articles was carried out in the PubMed and Bireme databases from May to July 2024. The descriptors (DeCS/MeSH) in English "Primary Health Care" were used. Primary Health), "acupuncture" and "Traditional Chinese Medicine", combined using the Boolean operator “AND”. The selected articles were published between 2019 and 2024, in English, Portuguese and Spanish. Results: Ten articles that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria demonstrated the benefits of acupuncture in promoting health. Final considerations: The integration of acupuncture into primary health care services is an area of significant expansion with promising results in the treatment of various conditions. However, more studies are needed to validate its effectiveness and expand its clinical application.
