Abstract

Objective: to understand the perceptions of pregnant women attended at a prenatal outpatient clinic at a University Hospital in Juiz de Fora, about coping with the Coronavirus pandemic during pregnancy Method: qualitative research, of an exploratory descriptive nature. The research subjects were 22 pregnant women assisted at the prenatal outpatient clinic of the University Hospital of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (HU/UFJF). Data were collected from a semi-structured interview and documentary research Results: for data analysis, four categories were created: Perceptions of pregnant women in the face of the Coronavirus pandemic, Social support during pregnancy, access to health services related to prenatal care and vulnerable situations during prenatal care. The participants showed concern about pregnancy during the pandemic, with the baby's health being the main focus. They were also aware of the necessary measures to avoid contagion, although some reported confidence in the relaxation of these measures. They reported that the demands presented during the prenatal care were fully met by the health team. Conclusion: understanding the perspectives of pregnant women and the impacts of the pandemic on their daily lives makes it possible for professionals to be able to resolve the emotional and physical issues of women during prenatal care.
