Abstract
Objective: To analyze the relationship between Golgi complex dysfunction and prostate cancer. Methods: Integrative literature review carried out in the indexed databases PubMed, Scopus and Embase in November 2023. The DeCS/MeSH descriptors “cancer of prostate”, “golgi apparatus” and “golgi translational post” and their alternative terms were used for research forming combinations of keywords with Boolean operators. Results: The final sample consisted of 12 articles, which describe several mechanisms linked to the cascades of post-translational events in the golgi complex that induce the fragmentation of this organelle in prostate cancer cells. Conclusion: The fragmentation of the Golgi cisterns was characteristic evidence of the precursors of prostate cancer as well as the direct relationship between alcohol abuse and the splitting of this organelle. However, it is necessary to improve these understandings, as in vitro results have limitations when extrapolated to the context of the entire organism. In this sense, the clinical applicability of the discoveries depends on the development of inhibitors capable of neutralizing a complex and multifactorial cascade of events.
