Abstract
Objective: To describe the social and clinical profile of patients with cleft lip and/or palate in the state of Pará, between 2018 and 2022. Methods: This epidemiological, observational, and descriptive study profiles cases in Pará, Brazil, from 2018 to 2022, using data from the Live Birth Information System (SINASC). Results: A total of 314 cases were recorded, predominantly male babies (62.73%), born via cesarean section (60.85%) and from single pregnancies (98.1%). Most were born weighing over 2500g (75.47%) and had Apgar scores of 8 or higher in the first (69.96%) and fifth minute (86.94%). The mothers were primarily mixed race (84.74%), in a stable union (41.09%), aged between 20 and 34 years (62.42%), and had more than eight years of education (68.47%). Most pregnancies lasted over 37 weeks (77.1%), and 46.82% of the mothers attended seven or more prenatal consultations. Significant differences in birth weight and Apgar scores were identified between children with and without the malformation, along with associations between maternal social and gestational variables and the occurrence of cleft lip. Conclusion: Identifying labiopalatine fissures during prenatal care and educating pregnant women about pre- and postnatal care is essential for better emotional preparation and effective condition management.
