Methods: Cross-sectional study with a descriptive approach and quantitative analysis, carried out with elderly people cared for in Basic Units in Miranda do Norte, Maranhão. A questionnaire was administered in blocks with sociodemographic variables, medication use and polypharmacy. Descriptive statistics were used using the STATA® program.
