Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the presence of space between the filling material and the canal wall (gaps) and voids within the filling material after root canal filling with Bio C-sealer and the different techniques: Tagger (THT) and wave continuous condensation (TOCC) through scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Methods: 40 single-rooted, oval-shaped canines were selected, instrumented, and then scanned by micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) to pair the teeth according to volume, canal surface area, and divided into groups: AH Plus and TOCC; AH Plus and THT; Bio C-sealer and TOCC; Bio C-sealer and THT. After filling, they were submitted to SEM and evaluated for gaps and voids. The data were analyzed using the chi-square test, with a significance level of 5%. Results: Bio-C sealer showed a greater gap space (p=0.0001), regardless of the technique. There was no difference in voids between the sealers and filling techniques. Conclusion: Although Bio-C sealer showing a smaller gap distance when compared to AH Plus Jet, both filling techniques tested promoted adequate filling in terms of gaps and voids.
