Abstract

Objective: To know the sociodemographic profile of the multiprofessional team working in a habitual risk maternity hospital and current breastfeeding practices in the first hour of life. Methodology: Cross-sectional, exploratory study with a quantitative approach, conducted with 35 professionals from a usual risk maternity hospital in southern Brazil using a three-dimensional instrument. Results: An interview was conducted using a questionnaire divided into three dimensions. Dimension 1 points to the predominant training of nursing technicians, regarding the age of professionals is between 26 and 35 years. As for the time of professional training, they are between 1 and 5 years. When considering the time of work in the hospital and the sector, it was observed that they are between 1 and 3 years. In Dimension 2, we highlight prenatal guidance regarding timely breastfeeding as negative; the interest in breastfeeding is present in all postpartum women. Dimension 3 regarding the duration of follow-up during breastfeeding in the golden hour chose the time less than thirty minutes. Conclusion: It is noteworthy that to obtain a greater coverage of the practices that involve the theme it is necessary to know the population that will assist this clientele, understand their clinical practice and align the initiatives.
