Abstract
Objective: Identify developments related to robotic devices for elbow rehabilitation and make them available to the scientific community for possible future developments. Bibliographic survey. Method: The integrative review was carried out in the databases and used a combination of keywords to identify relevant articles. The abstracts were read and those who were qualified had their complete reading, which formed part of this work. Results: A total of 976 records were identified through database searches. Among the selected articles, 12 were duplicates and immediately excluded, resulting in 964 studies for eligibility assessment. Title reviews resulted in the exclusion of 879 articles, the other 85 articles were subjected to abstract review. After all selection and extraction phases, only 53 studies met the inclusion criteria and were included in the present study. Final considerations: The analyzed scenario showed a great evolution in the characteristics of robotic devices for elbow rehabilitation. The use of simulation software helped a lot in the simulations and definitions of the devices. However, there are still great efforts in sizing the actuators and choosing the best power/weight ratio to make the devices lighter and facilitate their portability.
