Abstract

Objective: To analyze mortality from Brazilian spotted fever in Brazil from 2001 to 2023. Methods: A retrospective observational study using data from the Mortality Information System (SIM) and CID-10 Mortality Panel, focusing on condition A77 (Spotted Fever). Variables analyzed included temporality, region, sex, ethnicity, and age group. Results: A total of 608 deaths were recorded, with the highest mortality rate in the 50-59 age group, decreasing after 60. Seasonal peaks in mortality were observed in September and October, predominantly among men (77.8%). The Southeast region accounted for the majority of deaths (96.58%), with a higher prevalence among white individuals (64.6%). Conclusion: Mortality from spotted fever is seasonal, with a significant impact on men, white individuals, and the Southeast region. These findings underscore the importance of early diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and awareness campaigns, along with improved epidemiological surveillance, particularly in the most affected region.
