Abstract

Objective: To analyze the epidemiological indicators, incidence, mortality and lethality of Acute Chagas Disease in the 13 Health Regions of Pará between 2017 and 2021. Methods: An ecological, descriptive, retrospective, cross-sectional and quantitative study with inferential statistics. Results: 1,225 cases were observed in 11 health regions in Pará during the period analyzed, the prevalent regions of which were Tocantins and Metropolitana I. There was a statistically significant association between the health regions and the epidemiological variables, with the exception of gender. The oral form of infection was the most prevalent, most reported in the second half of the year and peaking in September. The year of highest notification was 2017, and the regions with the highest prevalence were Marajó I and II. In 2019, the highest lethality (2.34) and mortality (0.08) were recorded, as well as a correlation between these indicators and subnormal clusters. Conclusion: The high notification rate in the second semester, with greater expressiveness in Tocantins and Metropolitana I, was associated with the açaí harvest period. The most associated variables were age group, ethnicity and probable mode of infection. It is noteworthy that the study was limited by the analysis by health regions, presenting a possible notification bias.
