Abstract

Objective: To identify bibliographic data regarding the evolution of diagnosis and treatment of deep endometriosis over the past 10 years. Methods: An integrative literature review was conducted to analyze the evolution of diagnosis and treatment of deep endometriosis over the last 10 years, using data from PubMed, SciELO, and BVS. The obtained data were analyzed descriptively. As this was a bibliographic study, ethics committee approval was not required. Results: The review included 11 articles, suggesting that magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and transvaginal ultrasound are frequently used for diagnosis, providing significant imaging that contributes to the diagnosis. In terms of treatment, the data mainly point to laparoscopic surgery, which has shown positive results in reducing pain, infertility, and other symptoms. Conclusion: Overall, the studies indicate significant progress in the evolution of diagnosis and treatment, but further research with larger and more diverse samples is recommended to validate the findings.
