Abstract

Objective: To investigate the epidemiological profile of cases of work-related mental disorders (TMRT) in the southern region of Brazil in the period between 2007 and 2023. Methods: This is an epidemiological, quantitative and descriptive study that used secondary data from the National Health System Diseases and Notification (SINAN), from the database of the Department of Information Technology of the Unified Health System (DATASUS). Results: In the period analyzed, 3,000 cases were reported and women (73.9%), between 20 and 59 years old (95.3%), white (72.7%) and with secondary and higher education (63 .6%) were the most affected. Regarding clinical variables, there is a high prevalence of the use of psychotropic medications (31%). It was also noted that 36.4% of workers diagnosed with TMRT were dismissed from work; received outpatient treatment (79.7%) and developed temporary disability (34.4%). An incompleteness of notification forms was observed, with a high percentage of “ignored” or “blank” data, which greatly hampered knowledge of the real scenario of this problem in the southern region of Brazil. Conclusion: A considerable number of TMRT cases were reported in the southern region of Brazil during the period analyzed, however, further research is necessary so that the occupational illness is fully understood.
